Deforestation

Desire for commercial cultivation to tap markets

Edged the greedy, to grab the virgin green lands

Fairways of development called for land to build

Opened up vast open spaces in forests by grazing

Ringing death bell to the pristine nature forever

Enticing tourism paved way for resorts within jungle

Sending the wild life in distress for shelter and food

Timber dwellers turned forests into neo barren lands

And sold timber as furniture to the world with smiles

Triggering haunting droughts, without water retention

Irresistible climate change, a gift to our descendants

On the back of their dreams of a green earth to live

New forests will come up like museums for kids to see

Prompt # 10 at acrostic only  blog carnival. This poetry depicts the human "ego" towards nature. Hence, i feel this is apt one to submit at bridget chumbley  blog carnival too. Loggers whittle away more of the forest around me each year. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one this bothers. Beautiful Poem. Thanks for writing it.
