Lonely Stranger

I was returning home
With lot of thoughts in mind
As I walked past the temple
I casually looked at an old abandoned building
Expecting no surprises
As it remained closed for years
Even before, I moved to this locality
Once it was a home to sports and arts club
Now just a reminder of the past
I noticed a voice from inside
I slowed down to see who it is
I looked through the opened windows
I saw a strange old man with long grey beard
Sitting on the floor
With an apple in his hand
He was immersed in his own world
Talking to himself in some strange language
Or rather singing
I wondered who that stranger is
I’ve never seen him before in my locality
I think he may have lost his way
And chose to rest in that unoccupied building
As it has been raining for many days
As I walked past the building
I kept thinking about that old man
I wondered where he did come from!
May be bit curious about the story
Behind a lonely stranger
Even then, he was talking loudly
As if there are many people sitting beside him

Twitterland

There used to be one exotic place on earth
Switzerland, the queen of Alps
Draped over with fluffy snow
And wooed by the naughty chilly winds
Always enticed the honeymoon couples
Or those who wished to ski down the curves
Of a marvelous beauty
Or for the greedy rich men who looked for
A safe haven to hide their riches
But this is a new virtual haven
For those who want to be free
For those who want to express their views
For those who want to know what others think
Those who build a tent in twitter land
Mingle with the strangers across the world
Sharing their thoughts on countless topics
Sharing jokes and news and whatever possible
Even the constraints of 140 words doesn’t stop anyone
Some people live a parallel life in twitter land
Tweeting everything, they do live
Some just follow the celebrities and other famous people
To read their insights and controversies they make
Some just immerse themselves in following countless people
Or making countless people follow them
It’s fun when every other thing in life is boring
A world to set fire without taking matchbox
Just tweet some words
The fire will just catch up in countless minds
Then it just sparks debates
Some just like re-tweeting what others say
It’s an info highway
Where countless active and lazy people
Spend their time to spread info and get info
With mobile twitter, tweet freaks are online from everywhere
This is an obsessive addiction
That keeps many lives transparent
This is a volatile wonderland
That can change the lives
With the 140 words they use
Some gained accolades
Some lost their image in public
After waging wars against rogue elements
Many lost their little empires of power
After chasing down enemies in public
There are many romances
There are many breakups
This is a quick route for many to show their discontent
Easily infuriating the bosses with mocking
And getting the pink slips to go for some other jobs
It’s a hangout for gangs of friends
To tell and ask anything and everything
It gives the sense that you are not alone
No matter where you are, someone is with you
Following you to know from you
Now it has become just a marketing media
For all ambitious businesses
Tweeting links towards anything on the web
They are just driving people towards products
Building traffic towards the websites
And reaping the countless dollars from thin air
But everyone love twitter land
As somebody is tweeting something right now
And someone is waiting there to read that and reply
This is going to last longer, until something better emerge

Water Highway to moon

Every where there is concern
Climate is becoming weird day by day
Countries are blaming each other
For the green house gas emissions
No one ready to accept their faults
Nor ready to come up with solutions
Everyone on street know the solution
But governments endorse economic growth
Over emission cuts that could bring down
The monster of global warming
Kyoto and Copenhagen
More summits will follow with same results
With negotiators stage-managing the drama
One day they will have to act
When they finally see their cities submersing
Now they fend off the Greenpeace activists
With the iron fist of law
But, one day there won’t be a place to hide
When thunderstorms, floods, droughts, tsunamis
Earthquakes come with vengeance
With the silent permission of Mother Nature
To reclaim her pride, marred by greed of humans
We are experts in dumping all the wastes
Wherever possible on earth and space
It’s the time for us to think,
how to flush out the excess water from the oceans?
Before we are forced out from our homeland
To some hostile planets where we have to fight
Every moment with forces there to survive
Where we can’t walk nor breathe freely
Let’s build a water highway to the moon
Piercing channels through the space
Pumping out water molecules with escape velocity
And then pulling them towards the craters of moon
With the gravity
Then filling them with the virgin water from earth
We can use this water to feed ourselves
As we want to have colonies there
To launch our quest to conquer this universe
To find the aliens and other living organisms
We can recreate oceans at the barren lands in moon
We can even create artificial atmosphere
With water vapors and other gases
As we are experts
In emitting millions of cubic meters of dangerous gases
We can take space tourists to show them
The spectacular water high way for huge sums of money
May be someday people can undertake adventurous trips
On some space vehicles through that water highway
As long as we can keep the water level down in earth
Any amount spent on that highway is worth a punt
We can have tourists’ resorts in moon
Along the banks of this highway
With yatches lining up for luxury rides
On the water we find as junk on earth
We recreated every monument possible
May be we can recreate Venice on moon
As for humans, “nothing is impossible.”

This poem is inspired by the continuing protest by green-peace activists against the governments for not trying significantly to reduce the emissions.Global warming is affecting our very existence in this planet.

Wings

Give the wings to a butterfly, which lost its wings
You will see it slowly trying to rise up and down
Trying to learn to fly again to see the world once again
As it has got in its mind, the images about a garden
Where there are beautiful flowers with exotic aroma
The wish to taste that sweet honey once again
The wish to fly with bunch of other butterflies
The wish to pollinate the countless romantic flowers
The wish to contribute its part in this world
These wishes are powerful to push it higher towards sky
Then will free its new wings to breeze through the wind
Waving back a grateful smile for letting it fly again
That smile is priceless and that joy is unforgettable
Give wings to dreams of someone and let them fly
You will get that beautiful smile full of love
