This is my experimental double acrostic poem. A double acrostic consists of clues for a sequence of words (the cross-lights) to be written in a list, plus two clues to the words spelled out by the first and last letters of the cross-lights (the uprights). Football

Flair weaved with ever dancing legs
Over the green meadows they play
Orchestrated by thoughtful coaches
Tackling down to stop the threats
Battling hard to go past defenders
At any cost to score a dazzling goal
Long shots drilled from distance thrills
Lusty saves breaks hearts at once

I was fascinated by a poet who wrote a poem on PRAYER. I just wanted to write on my passion, football.

Fumble

Monsoon, Mosquitios, and World cup

World cup Opener

Under the bright sunshine
The dancers put up a spectacle
With singers trying to spread
The spirit of Africa
It is a historic day for a big continent
Hosting the world cup for first time
Showcasing the arrival of a new giants
The massive soccer city stadium
Stunned me as it looked massive
On par with top football stadiums

Theatre of my dreams

Sitting at the small gallery
In that old football ground
Where anyone hardly play football
Still only cricket dominating
With number of pitches at different spots
Fielders everywhere waiting for their respective balls
Watching those old trees with beautiful flowers
Memories run back as if to catch the past
I found a small guy who used to watch curiously
From the bus stop, at those playing in the middle
Dreaming about playing someday there
Hitting the ball out of the ground like them
He saw so many battles out there
Sitting underneath those big trees
Without worrying about scorching sun
Or drizzling rains.
Numerous hilarious moments
Serious debates with total strangers
And those silly fights with the people
Numerous friends he made from there
From being a spectator to some one in the middle
Years went so fast, huh still
Days of bunking in search of playing time
Comes so fresh in mind
Some passion kept him going
Forgetting everything while being there
Now more of a philosophical refuge
To go some time and to sit
Then watch youngsters playing around
Reliving those tense moments in the middle
But now there is no familiar faces around
Only those big trees, the park, the skating ring
And the temple saying hello to him
As if, they were old friends

David Beckham the Icon

In the early nineties,
A bunch of young lads progressed,
From the academy of Manchester united!
Who, later turned out to be the champions,
surged into the senior squad of United.

Among those, there was a gem
named “David Beckham”!

Everyone noticed him for the looks,
But he proved that his legs has more value,

The goal from the halfway line
Announced the arrival of the star!
From free kicks to corners to penalties,
David weaved magic on the football pitch,

Running down the right flank,
Putting crosses across the goalmouth,
He created chances after chances,
and numerous goals were scored on those.

He may not be a great dribbler,
But, he is one of the best crosser and passer,
in the game of football.

He reaped success after success with red devils,
The “NO: 7” ,became an iconic number.
He became a super star, groomed by SAF,
He became a cult hero, youth Icon!
With fans across the world emulating,
his ever-changing haircuts.

The passion, he brings out of himself,
Also, from the team,
During matches is enormous.

Many a match won on his late bursts,
The red card against Argentina,
Put a black mark on his game.

But, beating all odds, he bounced back
The free kick,
Against Germany is a piece of history.

The penalty,
Under pressure against Argentina,
he buried the ball past the keeper, for a sweet revenge!

From the darling of old Trafford,
he switched to be the darling of Bernabau,
He became a part of elite galacticos,
producing excellent football without success!

But ended the stay at Bernabeu,
inspiring the madristas to a title!

He may be a brand ambassador for corps,
But, he is the global ambassador for football.

Now,
Ventured into the Americas,
A challenge to spread, wings of soccer there.

He presented innumerous divine crosses,
Scored gems of goals,
From, the dead ball scenario!

That curve on the ball,
Every one says, “Bend it like Beckham”!

It’s a gift of the god for him
The ability to pass,
from any part of the pitch,
with amazing pinpoint accuracy.

With his academies,
he is grooming talents,
to succeed his legacy!

His legacy will remain forever,
As an iconic footballer, who thrilled the hearts.

Hand of god

They are messiahs
who thrive on prayers of millions
who follow them with raw fanatism
They are magicians
Expected to produce wonders
With the ball on football pitch
Every time they take the field
They can devastate any team
With their driblling and trickery
They can kill off the games
With stunning goals
Yet,at the theatre of football
They cheated infront of thousands
With the "Hand of god"
Nailing the hopes of opponents
And writing themselves into record books
As the saviors of entire nation
Breaking the hearts of those
Who outplayed the saviors teams
Yet booted out with goals of disgrace
With no remorse feeling
The saviors basked themselves in glory
Shame on rules,
Shame on fairplay
Shame on trust
Cheaters win glories
With "Hand of god"
While the authorities sleep
Favoring the disgraced saviors
