Birthday

Dad
This day
Without your smile
Without your greeting
Without your arrival
With a cake
It’s incomplete

I count it now
As years without your presence
No new wish to fulfill
As I still wish, what you expect me to do

Without you
I am still a kid
Refusing to grow up
Though my beard grew up

I am waiting for that day
When I will get back with you
I will celebrate that day
As my birthday

Nightmares

I don’t see dreams anymore
I see only nightmares
Ever since, you left me
Alone in this world
I am scared to lie on bed
Unless I am that sleepy
As all I think is about you
When I lay alone
As you was my only support
I wasn’t able to sleep many a days
As your memories refused me to get away
And left me in tears
Felt guilty that, I wasn’t able to save you
As you closed your eyes, for the last time
After gasping for the last breath of air
In a desperate attempt to survive
But shores of safety of hospital
Was little too far
By the time, I got a vehicle to take you there
You left me for a new world
I saw you struggling for survival
Many a night
In different scenarios
Where I kept running
In search of avenues to save you
Never once, I succeeded
As I struggled for long,
My friend taught me meditation
Somehow, I caught some sleep there after
Every night
Then trained myself to tire my soul
To get good sleep
But once in a while
I wake up shocked
Seeing another nightmare

A Crow in the rain

It’s monsoon time here
Rain clouds have built their kingdom in the sky
Chilly winds have started their wild swings
Slight drizzle made those waving coconut trees
Look pretty as newlywed bride
As I watched them through my window
I saw a lonely crow sitting calmly
On the top of tilted roof of a neighborhood house
The roof made of well-woven coconut leaves
Always bear a nostalgic style
In the middle of a concrete jungle
It’s rare to see a crow drenching in rain
So I wondered, why is it sitting there patiently
Is it struggling to fly!
Did it lose its way!
Once in a while, it waved its wings
To drain away the water from its body
And its ash colored neck took a weary look
Just like a hunk having a funky hairstyle
Then I saw a flock of rain insects
Flying from the backside of that house
And my new friend had its eye on them
Just like any predator, so sharp and so focused
Rose very slow making less noise
It snatched one fly with its beak
Without sitting back, it snatched some more
Then took rest for a while
And waited for some more preys
Seeing the bravery of this friend
Some crows flew towards the roof
They sat on it keeping a distance
It reminded me of a row in my school assembly
Without any in fights
They took their fiefdoms to hunt
Rain didn’t deter their quest
As hunger dominated their will
After they finished their decent lunch
They flew away to find shades to rest
As the rain started withdrawing from the scene
The image of my lonesome friend in my mind
Made me wonder
Why I didn’t capture it’s snap!

Re-incarnation of the Extinct

The world is incomplete without you
Countless beautiful animals and birds
We the humans made sure that
You never took birth again
In this helpless earth controlled by us
Our ancestors hunted you down
With the passion for hunting down trophies
To show how brave they were
Or just simply brought unknown enemies
From lands far away without warning
And they simply butchered you down
As if, their hunger never ceased
Some left this earth even before humans took birth
As generations passed by
Curiosity about a lost world of species
Learnt from the encyclopedias and various books
Made some researchers to excavate
To find the remnants of an old world
They found the bones of mammoths, dinosaurs
And countless species
They found countless dormant eggs
They found their ages with carbon dating
And all new techniques
They recreated their body with softwares
And real 3d models
They came up with countless assumptions
About the lifestyle
And the extinction of those species
Made documentaries and movies to show the old eras
To the young kids and to fascinate them
With genome codes, cloning coming to the fore
Along with the crazy minds trying to make artificial life
It won’t be a surprise
If someone crack the genome codes of those species
And then extracting DNA’s from eggs or bones
Or from any preserved bodies
And cloning them to give a re-incarnation
Like we saw in Jurassic park
Our zoos are obsolete with familiar animals
New animals from old era will usher it
Even then some another species will extinct
Well they can die in peace
With a hope that
Humans will re-incarnate them from the extinct

Sold for a few pennies

With tears
She looked at her smiling baby
Who just got into this world
Just a while ago
She was proud to be a mother
But she couldn’t afford
To raise her kid
Like she dreamt
Beautiful attires
Lot of toys
Nice food and education
Nor a good home
Destined to struggle
Facing a race against time
Every day
Just to survive another day
With scant resources
When other kids
Play around with fun
She couldn’t take her soul
To such a struggle
When she has to fight
To meet ends
As she can’t even spend time
She was alone
Abandoned
To face this life
Scared to think
About a treacherous future
For her beloved soul
She thought to give it
A new lease of life
A prosperous journey
With love and care
As someone who craves to love
Waiting
Ready to take her soul away
Ready to
Spend a fortune
For rest of life
To raise her baby with love
She didn’t want money
To survive
She just wanted to get her baby
A secured future
That she can’t even dream to deliver
She kissed her baby for last time
She may not ever see her soul again
But she felt relieved
As she handed over
Her baby to an excited woman
She saw her sparkling eyes
Filled with ecstasy
Like that in small kids
When they get what they wish
Yeah it’s been a wait for long time
It’s been her only wish
Now it’s fulfilled
She cried as she kissed that baby
For the first time
She gave the mother
A bundle of currency
Well ,that money didn’t mean much
May be can get her some breathing time
To search for avenues to live
Baby kept smiling
As she turned around
Walked gingerly
Tears were unstoppable
She didn’t turned back once
As she couldn’t bear that sight
Seeing her baby being taken away
She walked to her home
Cursing at her own plight
Cursing at the man who left her
Costing her beloved baby
Forced to live forever
With the memories
Of a few moments with her baby
Feeling guilty
That she sold her soul for few pennies
But, she had no other choice
All she can do is pray for her baby
