Another Mom

As a kid, I was lucky
Being loved by people around
In my neighborhood
There was an aunty,
Younger than my mom was then
She and her husband was fond of me
As they didn’t had kids, then
She showered love on me
That could envy any mom
She looked after me like her own kid
Took me to her home, when she had time
Or I visited her when I missed her
Everyday, she used to feed me the lunch
With my favorite fried eggs of fish
I liked being with her
Since she cared me a lot
One day I called her “mom”
As I couldn’t differentiate her love
From my own mom
She was happy at that moment
Months later, she moved on afar
When she finally had her own child
She named him after me
May be in my memory
When I visited her once, years later
She was so happy
And I felt the same warmth in her eyes
Despite we didn’t meet for long
I haven’t seen her, ever since
But I feel, I have another mom in her
Some relations are unique
Rising from the bottom of hearth
With more depth than bloodily relations

This is about a lady who loved me like her own son.

A bridge

A bridge is all they need
As an year ago
They saw young lives drowning
To depths of that river bed
On a fierce rainy day
As their boat capsized
As it carried more people than
It could afford to
This path is the shortest one
To get to the school
So students take risk
Crossing the river on boats
Than travelling long distances
Even as parents fear about another tragedy
With the monsoon raising water level
As usual in this river
A bridge remains a dream
As politicians have time only to talk
They can’t see the plight of people
Even after numerous lives were lost

I couldn't resist writing on this, when i saw students crossing a furious chaliar river on country boats.Only an year ago some students lose their lives in that river. Hope that someday they will get a bridge for safer journey.

Love to friendship

Hardest thing in this world is
To be the friend of your love
When you know he is
 Someone else's life

It’s hard to control emotions
As Old Memories and dreams
Flocks the heart, giving
A sense of great loss

Every time when you see him
Heart craves for getting closer
Like the olden days
With nostalgic eyes

He conquered your untamed heart
Made you his beautiful princess
Filled dreams in you
About life together

Still you are there in his heart
He wanna care you like before
 But from a distance
As a loving friend

This poem is written for a friend, some what in tandem with her tune.

Slaughtered Hand

A mistake
Intentional or unintentional
Brought the wrath from all directions
Mobs burned his effigies
Mobs demanded his blood
Some waited for law to take its course
But a few couldn’t wait
They executed their own law
By slaughtering a hand
That wrote things they didn’t like
Though everyone has right to express
Their thoughts and opinions
From nowhere he became famous
His words made him the enemy
Of chauvinists who talks about god
But god never assigned anyone
To execute anyone
For talking against the will of god
The palm less hand strikes the eye
As the symbol of hatred
Spread by heartless
Religiously blinded chauvinists
The enemy of humanity

This is about a person whose hand was butchered by some anti-social miscreants for expressing radical opinions.

Strength Within

Strength isn’t the ability of someone to thrash things
It isn’t the trait of a man who can slam down opponents
It isn’t the cavalry of an arrogant dictator with weapons
It isn’t a toy that can be bought in a mall with a credit card
Strength is the cloud of emotions that can keep one alive
When all the tough situations drag one towards a trench
When the whole world is against you and you are cornered
You never look for a weapon or hideout
You look for strength within the soul at that time
I saw the strength through the words of a girl
Who laughed and fought with me, during her last days
After knowing that she won’t survive after four months
When she came to say goodbye to all the friends
I saw the strength within her to face the worst
Just two days before she died
I saw strength within in the eyes of my dad before he died
As he strived to catch one more breathe to survive
I saw the strength within myself when I signed the document
That proclaimed his death, without shedding any tears
I found strength within when I tried to console my Mum
As she eagerly asked about his survival
I had to reveal the truth cold-hearted
I felt the strength within in the trembling voice of a girl
Who was within moments away from leaving this world
To get back to the life and win over the tough battle
There is no need for riches or advice if one can discover
The strength within the heart, to fight back in life
From any adversities that pop up from time to time
